21st Orkney Science Festival about to kick off!

This is yet another great opportunity to dig deep into the treasures and pleasures the Orkney Isles have to offer!

The 21st Orkney Science Festival begins on 1 September 2011. It offers fresh insights by world-class speakers into Orkney’s rich environment, history and dark skies, but also radical new approaches to the challenges of the future!

The sheer variety of its programme makes the Festival an ideal way to gain a fuller picture of Orkney, as well as an understanding of all kinds of fascinating subjects, from stone circles to black holes, and from the frontiers of quantum theory to the latest practical developments in renewable energy from wave and tide.

Local produce (from food through beer and wines to the best whisky in the world!) will be available at all events and, since this is a festival, there are numerous links to art and music, including many concerts, as well as a daily Ceilidh in The Reel!

Date: 1st - 7th September 2011.

Where: A number of venues including St Magnus Centre, King Street Halls and The Town Hall, Kirkwall.
