Edinburgh Book Festival

An inspiring literary festival, the world’s largest public celebration of the written word, right in the heart of Edinburgh: hundreds of author events, debates and workshops packed into 17 extraordinary days.

The Edinburgh Book Festival started in 1987 and has established itself as a key event during the August festival season.  Small events, large events, events for adults, babies, children and teens – the programme offers something for just about every age and every interest, bringing readers and writers together for entertainment, discussion and pure inspiration. The 2011 Festival programmes over 700 author events with writers from a variety of countires.
